PTFE biaxially stretched membrane is a polymer compound polymerized from tetrafluoroethylene. It is prepared through a biaxial stretching process. It has a microporous structure with staggered fibers. It has high porosity and small and uniform pore size.
There are two main methods for preparing PTFE microporous films that have been reported so far.
One is to add the pore-forming agent NaCl to PTFE, then make the PTFE into a film, and then remove the NaCl by heating and washing with water. The vacancies left by the NaCl form pores. The microporous film made by this method has the smallest pore size. is 0.1μm.
The second is the mechanical stretching method. The microporous film made by the modified method has a special structure of island-like “knots” connected by microfibers. It is currently the main method for preparing PTFE microporous films.
