Singeing machine – cylinder singeing machine

Figure 6-11 shows the cylinder singeing machine. It is singeing by contacting the surface of a rotating red-hot metal cylinder with the fabric.

Its cylinder rotates in the opposite direction to the running direction of the fabric, which can make full use of its red hot cylinder surface and avoid the copper plate. Singeing produces burn spot defects due to the local temperature drop of the board surface.
The number of singeing cylinders is 1 to 3, and two or more can be used for double-sided singeing. The materials of the singeing cylinder include copper, cast iron and iron-nickel-chromium alloy, and it is best to use alloys. Fuels include coal, gas and heavy oil.
Both ends of the singeing cylinder are placed on two cast iron rings (one is the driving one), and the rotation is driven by friction. Since the cylinder is heated by the flame and flue gas sprayed from the furnace, the heat is greater in the part near the furnace, so the two ends of the outer diameter cylinder adopt different inner diameters, and the small inner diameter end is connected to the furnace. After a period of time, it can be turned around for installation and use if necessary. The inner wall of the original large inner diameter end can be inlaid with a fire clay ring to reduce its inner diameter. The cylinder is covered with a hot iron ring to prevent the cylinder end from slipping away from the cast iron ring due to thermal expansion, contraction and vibration of the cylinder during rotation.
