Basic knowledge of functional fabrics
Functional fabric
One is clothing made of functional outdoor sports fabrics. This kind of fabric is mainly used in mountaineering clothing, ski clothing, and jackets. It has a rough style and a stiff feel. It has very high requirements for product performance. It is suitable for use in expeditions and harsh environments, and is good for people. Has a protective effect.
The other type is clothing made of outdoor casual functional fabrics, which are defined as outdoor activities outside the home. This type of fabric is mainly casual and fashionable, with fine workmanship, soft feel, and comfortable wearing. It is suitable for travel, outdoor activities, etc. .
Quick-drying fabric-
1. Wearing clothing made of this kind of fabric is very comfortable, and we don’t feel the discomfort caused by sweat during exercise at all;
2. This kind of fabric can make the sweat on the body drain to the surface of the clothing faster;
3. It uses a special weaving method to export excess sweat from the skin surface to the outer layer of the fabric;
UV protection fabric-
1. You don’t have to worry about your skin getting burned by the sun when wearing clothing made of this kind of fabric;
2. This kind of fabric has UV protection function (UPF30+), which can better protect the skin from UV damage;
3. Woven or woven sunscreen materials rely on the transfer, absorption and reflection of UV ultraviolet Hyvent by the fabric;
Waterproof, breathable fabric-
1. When wearing clothes made of this kind of fabric for outdoor sports, you don’t have to worry about getting wet even if it rains heavily;
2. Polyurethane (PU) coating, rainproof and breathable;
3. The ePTFE[1] coating has good water resistance and air permeability, and is water resistant – stable performance within the temperature range of 250°C~+260°C;
4. Three-layer structure—-the outer layer is made of light, wear-resistant and soft nylon. Middle layer, expanded polytetrafluoroethylene material. A very light and thin coating, ePTFE coating, inner layer, and lining, protects the coating and prevents it from adhering to clothing.
Windproof fleece fabric-
1. It can meet the windproof and warmth requirements of outdoor athletes in cold weather;
2. Excellent windproof and thermal insulation properties;
3. It is TNF’s unique windproof fleece fabric
Fleece fabric-
1. Outdoors in cold winter – can meet the athletes’ requirements for warmth;
2. It is a fabric with excellent thermal insulation properties
1. Textile fibers: objects with a diameter as small as a few microns or tens of microns, and a length many times greater than the fineness.
-1. Natural fibers: Cotton (C); Wool (W); Silk (S); Linen: Linen (L), Ramie (RAMorR).
2. Chemical fibers: (1) Synthetic fibers: Polyester (T); Nylon Polyamide (N); Nitrile Polyacrylic (A); Ammonia Spandex Lycra (PUorSPA) (2) Man-made fibers: Viscose – Rayon (R) ; Rayon Viscose(V). —-
-2. Fabric classification
—-Woven fabric: Fabric made of warp and weft yarns interwoven vertically and horizontally using a textile machine. Such as: plain cloth, poplin, khaki
Knitted fabric: It is made of single warp or single weft threads woven into coils and interlocked with each other using a textile machine. Such as: socks, jersey, knitted underwear, woolen sweaters.
-3. Identify fabrics–
1. Feeling 2. Combustion 3. Microscopic observation 4. Dissolution method–
–4. Determine the front and back of the fabric (conventional)–
Generally judged by its appearance:
1. General fabrics: The patterns and colors on the front are clearer and more beautiful than those on the back.
2. Striped fabric: The front pattern is clear and pleasing to the eye.
3. Convex or convex fabric: The front side is tight and delicate, with strips or patterned ridges, while the reverse side is rough and has longer floating lines.
4. Raised fabric: Single-sided raised fabric, with the plush side as the positive side.
Double-sided raised fabric: The side with smooth and neat pile is the positive side; the side with thick normal pile is the positive side.
5. Observe the edge of the fabric: the smooth and neat side of the edge is the positive side.
6. Rolling: When rolling, the inside is the front.
7. Eye of the needle: Generally, the concave surface is positive.
8. Coated fabrics: Generally, the PU and PA coated side is the reverse side.
-5. Fabric quality–
-A. Intrinsic quality:
1. Length: Generally more than 30 meters, allowing one piece of cloth to be more than 18 meters within 10 pieces.
2. Width: cotton – wide: 57/58144CM, medium: 43/44110CM, narrow: 3691.44CM
Chemical fiber: width 150CM. Net width: (effective width) with burrs and needle holes removed. Wool width: including burrs and needle holes
3. Color difference: one piece: left, middle and right; front and rear color difference: four levels; color difference: level 3~4; cylinder difference: level 3~4
4. Shrinkage = (length before washing – length after washing / length before washing) * 100%
Range: Cotton: 3% Chemical fiber: 1%
5. Color fastness: points: sun exposure, soaping, perspiration, friction (dry and wet grinding)
B. Appearance defects: folds, rungs, spinning (missing warp or missing weft), holes, neps, impurities, grains, foreign fibers, and weft bias. Article quoted from:
5. Fabric introduction: FUTEX fabric introduction
FUTEX fabric is the highest quality waterproof, windproof and breathable fabric to date. FUTEX fabric can not only allow the human body to naturally discharge sweat, but also prevent external rain, snow and cold wind from invading the human body, so it is known as the “second layer of skin of the human body”.
