Introduction to composite membrane
PTFE composite membrane
Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) composite fabric is a high-functional fabric that integrates waterproof, breathable, windproof and other properties. The microporous PTFE film structure is easily contaminated by dust and oil in sweat, clogging the micropores, and has poor deformation recovery. It is the latest generation Core-tex waterproof and breathable fabric.
The second generation Core-tex waterproof and breathable fabric is coated with a hydrophilic and oil-repellent polyurethane (PU) waterproof and breathable coating on one side of the water-repellent PTFE membrane. This hydrophilic layer prevents contamination of the microporous membrane and allows the Core-tex fabric to maintain its waterproof and moisture-permeable performance for a longer period of time. The disadvantage is that the moisture-permeable performance of the fabric is reduced.
PTFE composite membrane can be widely used in:
Cold-proof clothing fabrics: such as cold-proof clothing, polar protective clothing, sand protective clothing, severe weather protective clothing, etc.
Special protective clothing fabrics: fire-fighting clothing, biochemical protection clothing, water-immersed work clothing, cold-proof anti-immersion clothing, pesticide work protective clothing, acid-base protective clothing, surgical clothing, etc.
Sports clothing: mountaineering clothing, running clothing, golf clothing, ski clothing, fishing clothing, hunting clothing, etc.
Shoes, hats, gloves, sleeping bags, tents, rain gear, etc.
PU composite film
TPU composite film, that is, the moisture permeability principle of thermoplastic hydrophilic polyurethane film is that the hydrophilic chain segments absorb the moisture emitted by human body temperature, and the movement of the hydrophilic chain segments removes the moisture. Rapidly diffuses from the inside to the outside (that is, from high pressure to low pressure), and then evaporates the moisture into the outside atmosphere. That is, the special molecular structure of thermoplastic polyurethane is used to transfer water molecules out one by one through hydrophilic groups to achieve high moisture permeability. Secondly, because its surface is non-porous, rain, wind and snow cannot penetrate it, and its general water pressure resistance can reach more than 9.8×104 Pa (10000mm H2O). TPU is washable, can withstand low temperatures up to -30°C, and has a light and soft texture. It is an ideal laminated film material that is not too expensive (compared to PTFE membrane).
Product properties: Green and environmentally friendly, excellent breathability and moisture permeability; absolutely waterproof, anti-blood stain, antibacterial; windproof and cold-resistant, anti-velvet, smooth; durable, super water-repellent finish; easy to remove stains, and can be washed normally.
Scope of application: Field military uniforms, firefighting and military special clothing; protective equipment, military tents, sleeping bags and postal bags; sportswear for mountaineering, skiing, golf and other sports; materials for shoes and hats, bags, blackout curtains, anti-UV umbrella cloth; Rainproof, breathable ponchos, casual windbreakers; medical supplies.

Suitable for lamination of various fabrics such as knitted, woven, and non-woven fabrics. The most common TPU composite fabrics on the market are:
Four-sided elastic + TPU + polar fleece is what people often call SoftShell. The four-sided elastic is mainly 75D (for women’s clothing) and 100D (for men’s clothing), and the polar fleece is mainly 75D/72F and 100D/144F. It can have many styles such as plain weave, twill weave, plaid, etc. Because it is waterproof, breathable, windproof and warm, its use is no longer limited to ordinary outdoor sportswear. Many large foreign companies use it as work clothes for their employees.
Chemical fiber woven fabric + TPU + Tricot (polyester warp knitted mesh fabric). Woven fabrics mainly include pongee, taslan, oxford, peach skin, nylon, etc. Ordinary ones such as 228T Taslan can be used as the main fabric of jackets; while nylonCamouflage printed fabrics can be used as military clothing; fluorescent fabrics can be used as police uniforms and other work clothes;
Microporous PU composite membrane, has good breathability.
PU composite membrane that combines hydrophilicity and microporosity, can combine the advantages of both
The composite membrane combining PTFE and TPU can overcome some of the weaknesses of PTFE.
