Characteristics and varieties of polypropylene fiber fabrics
1. Characteristics of polypropylene fiber fabric
Polypropylene has the lightest specific gravity among all clothing fibers and is a fiber that can float on the water (specific gravity is about 0.91g/cm3), but its strength is very good, so it is used in clothing has been widely used. The characteristics of polypropylene fabric are:
⑴Polypropylene is one of the light fabrics, its weight is only 3/5 of cotton, so it is very suitable for use as wadding for winter clothing or fabrics for ski clothing, mountaineering clothing, etc. Can be used to make ropes, fishing nets, filter cloth, etc.
⑵ The hygroscopicity of polypropylene fabric is extremely small, and its moisture regain rate is considered to be 0%. Therefore, its clothing is famous for its advantages such as quick drying, crispness, and no shrinkage. However, the comfort is not good and the dyeability is also very poor. Because polypropylene film is easy to break in the direction perpendicular to the stretch, it is often used in wrapping ropes.
⑶ Polypropylene fabric has good strength and wear resistance, and the clothing is strong and durable.
⑷Polypropylene fabric is corrosion-resistant, but not heat-resistant, light-resistant, and prone to aging.
⑸Polypropylene fabric has good stability to inorganic acids and bases, but slightly poor stability to organic solvents.
2. Varieties of polypropylene fiber fabrics
Polypropylene fabrics include pure spinning, blended spinning and interwoven fabrics. Among them, blended and interwoven fabrics are mostly matched with cotton fibers, such as polypropylene/cotton muslin, polypropylene/cotton mixed-color linen yarn, etc. ; And pure polypropylene fabric is represented by Pali velvet coat.
⑴ Pali velvet coat is a wool-like fabric woven from solution-dyed polypropylene terry yarn. It has a unique terry style, bright and beautiful color, light and warm texture, and strong wool feel. The biggest advantage is that it is easy to wash, quick to dry, high quality and low price. Suitable for youth wear and children’s coats.
⑵ Acrylic/cotton mixed-color linen yarn is woven from acrylic/cotton 65/35 blended yarn, which is strong and durable, with a crisp appearance and good dimensional stability. It is often used as military raincoats, mosquito nets, etc.
⑶ Propylene/cotton muslin has been mentioned in the “Cotton Fabrics” section, please refer to the “Cotton Blended and Interwoven Fabrics” in Section 2.
