Alkali reduction processing and post-finishing technology
Alkali weight reduction finishing uses alkali (mostly caustic soda) to treat polyester fabrics to dissolve the fiber surface and form irregular concave holes to improve the finish of the fabric. At the same time, due to the thinning of the fibers, the fabric structure is loose, soft to the touch, and the quality is reduced, resulting in a style similar to silk. After alkali reduction and finishing, as the quality continues to decrease, although the feel gradually becomes softer, the strength decreases almost in proportion to the decrease in linear density. Especially when the weight reduction reaches a certain level, the strength drops sharply. In order to completely reduce the strength loss, the reduction rate is generally controlled at 10%-20%. Crepe de chine woven from special-shaped crimped silk can be processed without alkali reduction. During the finishing process of polyester imitation silk fabric, the tension of each process should be strictly controlled, and the finishing process should be carried out in a loose state, so that the product can meet the requirements of soft feel, elasticity and full silk surface. In order to make the georgette crepe fabric show an obvious georgette effect, the fiber must be pre-shrunk to completely reduce the heat shrinkability of the polyester, and use the georgette shrinkage to create a crepe effect on the surface.
