Mobile financial services facilitate wage payment for garment manufacturing companies
According to Bangladesh’s “Daily Sun” report on March 17, the “Digitization of Wages in Garment Manufacturing Enterprises: Experience and Prospects” was held by mobile financial services company bKash at a hotel on Tuesday. At the symposium, entrepreneurs said that mobile financial services (MFS) minimize the difficulties associated with workers’ salary payments. Mizanur Rashid, general manager of bKash, Arif Ibrahim, general manager of Newage Group, Inamul Haq Khan, general manager of Ananta Group, and Anwar Hossain Chowdhury, chairman of AJ Group, shared their experience in digital wage payment. Entrepreneurs say there are almost no barriers to paying workers through the bKash system, which also contributes to the advancement of women’s rights. Even in the first month of the coronavirus pandemic, workers were able to receive their salaries on time through bKash. But Bangladesh still lags behind other neighboring countries in the use of mobile financial services. About 95% of workers in India, 85% of workers in Vietnam, 84% of workers in Indonesia receive their salary through digital financial systems, and only 40% in Bangladesh.
