Recently, the final review meeting of the Chinese Academy of Engineering’s strategic research and consulting project “Textile Industry Dual-Carbon Development Strategy and Technology Roadmap” was held in Songjiang, Shanghai. Gao Xiang, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and professor of Zhejiang University, served as the leader of the review expert group and chaired the meeting. At the meeting, Academician Yu Jianyong focused on the “dual carbon” development strategy of my country’s textile industry, focusing on the research background, the status quo and trend prediction of carbon emissions in the textile industry, the research and application cases of carbon emissions of main textile raw materials, and the “dual carbon” development technology of the textile industry. Roadmap, “double carbon” development policy recommendations for the textile industry and other aspects will be reported. The project targets the industry’s “dual carbon” development strategy and technology roadmap, and relies on industrytechnological innovation and industrial upgrading to support the textile industry’s “carbon neutrality” goal. Specifically, Through data collection, field surveys and online discussions, we extensively listened to the opinions of relevant scientific research institutes, universities, industry associations, large enterprises and government management departments, conducted detailed analysis and judgment, and wrote the “Double Carbon” Development Strategy for the Textile Industry. and Technology Roadmap Research Report” and three sub-reports on “Chemical Fiber Manufacturing Industry”, “Textile Industry” and “Textile and Apparel Industry and Carbon Footprint”, proposed to promote my country’s textile industry to implement the “dual carbon” development strategy and achieve carbon neutrality policy recommendations.

After listening to the report and reviewing the project closing materials, the review expert group believed that the project fully integrated industry resources, conducted extensive and in-depth research, and was forward-looking, strategic and systematic, and had a positive impact on the green and low-carbon nature of my country’s textile industry. Development plays an important decision-making reference and guidance role. The project completed 1 research report on schedule, formed 1 academician suggestion, published 1 monograph on green development of the textile industry, established 1 textile industry standard, and 3 China Textile Industry Federation group standards. The research report and policy recommendations have been highly praised and affirmed by industry organizations, and the project has fully met the assessment indicators. The review team unanimously agreed that the project passed the final review, and further improved the consultation suggestions and submitted them to the relevant departments as soon as possible.

She pointed out that the textile industry is not only a traditional industry, but also an important pillar industry for people’s livelihood; under the current new development pattern of my country’s “dual cycle” and the “dual carbon” strategic background, the textile industry’s pollution prevention and control, environmental protection, emission reduction and carbon reduction, science and technology Innovation, etc., will profoundly affect the development of the entire industry. This project focuses on strategic consulting and research on green and low-carbon development of the textile industry, and provides scientific and technological support to achieve the “double carbon” goal, which is of great significance.
Since the launch of this project, through a combination of online and offline methods, 169 representative textile enterprises in Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shandong, Fujian, Guangdong and other provinces have been surveyed, and the “China Textile Industry Green Development International Engineering Technology Strategy High-end Forum” and a series of symposiums have laid a good foundation for the smooth implementation of the project.
