Bangladesh’s apparel exports to non-traditional market countries grow
According to the “Daily Star” report on March 12, according to statistics from the Bangladesh Export Promotion Agency, in the first six months of this fiscal year (July-December 2016), Bangladesh exported to non-traditional market countries (the European Union, the United States , countries other than Canada) clothing exports reached US$2.08 billion, a year-on-year increase of 3.4%, of which clothing exports to Japan, Australia, and China were US$367 million, US$275 million, and US$190 million respectively.
Siddiqur Rahman, chairman of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association, said that Japan, Russia, Australia, and China are the most potential export markets for the Bangladesh garment industry, and a more active marketing strategy should be adopted to increase exports to emerging markets.
