A few days ago, Gap (Shanghai) Commercial Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the well-known clothing brand GAP, was fined more than 111,000 yuan by the Shanghai Jing’an District Market Supervision and Administration Bureau for selling substandard products.
This penalty is due to the fact that a men’s shirt and an infant jeans distributed by the company were found to be substandard products. In January this year, Gap was also punished by the bureau for the same reason.

The administrative penalty decision issued by the Market Supervision Bureau of Jing’an District, Shanghai on April 30 shows that men’s shirts and shirts of the brand GAP distributed by Gap Company Infant jeans were inspected by Guangzhou Inspection, Testing and Certification Group Co., Ltd. and determined to be unqualified products.
The inspection items of the two products involved (product instructions (labels)) do not comply with the GB/T5296.4-2012 standard, and they are both products marked with hang tags and durability labels. The sizes are inconsistent. The product model marked on the hangtag of the shirt involved is “180/96A (M)”, while the product model marked on the durability label is “185/104A”; the hangtag of the infant jeans involved is marked The product model is “90/50 (18-24MONTHS)”, while the product model marked on the durability label is “100/53 (3YEARS)”.
Jing’an, Shanghai The District Market Supervision Bureau stated that Gap Company’s behavior violated Article 39 of the Product Quality Law of the People’s Republic of China. Sellers shall not adulterate or adulterate products, shall not pass off fake products as genuine products, or pass off inferior products as good products. “Unqualified products pass off as qualified products”.
After investigation, Gap Company’s illegal income from selling the two products involved was RMB 45,035.98, and the value of the goods was RMB 132,344.59. . Then it was decided to fine Gap Company 66,172.3 yuan and confiscate illegal income of 45,035.98 yuan. At the same time, Gap Company was ordered to immediately stop selling the men’s shirts and infant jeans involved in the case, and the illegally sold men’s shirts (model number: 547710) were confiscated 193 files.
