Corduroy fabric feels elastic and soft, with clear and round velvet strips, soft and even luster, thick and wear-resistant, but it is easy to tear, especially the tearing strength along the velvet strip direction is low. During the wearing process of corduroy fabric, the velvet part is in contact with the outside world, especially the elbows, collars, cuffs, knees and other parts of the clothing are subject to external friction for a long time, and the velvet is easy to fall off.

Basic information about corduroy fabric
The raw material of corduroy is generally cotton, but it is also blended or interwoven with polyester, acrylic, spandex and other fibers. Corduroy fabric
The corduroy weave uses a double weft weave in which two sets of weft yarns are interwoven with one set of warp yarns. The ground weaves include plain weave, twill weave, etc. Corduroy is woven from one set of warp yarns and two sets of weft yarns. One set of weft yarns (called ground weft) interweaves with the warp yarns to form a ground cloth that consolidates the pile. The other set of weft yarns (called pile weft) interweaves with the warp yarns to form a regular floating fabric. Weft, which is cut to form velvet.
Corduroy is woven with a double weft structure and then finished with cut velvet. The fabric has cord-like velvet strips on the surface, also known as corduroy. Corduroy uses a wide range of yarns. The warp yarns are usually 18-48tex (32-12 inch count) single yarn, or 10tex×2-28tex×2 (60/2-21/2 inch count) strands; the weft yarn is commonly used 14.5- 36tex (40-16 English count) single yarn. The weave adopts a double weft weave in which two sets of weft yarns are interwoven with one set of warp yarns. The ground weave includes plain weave, twill weave and equal weft weight. The velvet weave adopts a double weft weave in which two sets of weft yarns are interwoven with one set of warp yarns. Corduroy is a high weft density fabric with a warp tightness of 35%-65% and a weft tightness of 110%-200%. The arrangement ratio of ground weft and pile weft is 1:2 and 1:3.

Corduroy fabric properties
Corduroy fabric feels elastic and soft, with clear and round velvet strips, soft and even luster, thick and wear-resistant, but it is easy to tear, especially the tearing strength along the velvet strip direction is low.
During the wearing process of corduroy fabric, the velvet part is in contact with the outside world, especially the elbows, collars, cuffs, knees and other parts of the clothing are subject to external friction for a long time, and the velvet is easy to fall off.
The American standard “Test method for pile retention performance of corduroy fabrics (ASTM D4685-87)” specifies the friction treatment procedures for corduroy fabric samples and the instruments and methods for evaluating the pile retention performance. But the main problem is that the assessment of the corduroy down retention performance level must be carried out by three inspectors with reference to the standard. The subjective factors of the inspectors will affect the accuracy of the assessment results. The inspection basis for the export of pure cotton corduroy in my country is the “Inspection Regulations for Natural Corduroy Cut Velvet Fabrics (SN/TO312-94)”, and the inspection basis for the export of pure cotton printed and dyed corduroy is the “Inspection Regulations for Cotton Printed and Dyeed Corduroy (GB/T14311-93)” , and the above two standards do not stipulate the testing of corduroy pile retention performance. After investigation, in the relevant standards of other countries, there is no description of the testing method for the down retention performance of corduroy.
The fabric of corduroy clothing is quite special, so be extra careful when cleaning it. A piece of corduroyCleaning method:
1. Put an appropriate amount of water into the container, and then soak the corduroy in the water for about 20 minutes to fully soak the corduroy.
2. Pour warm water below 40℃ into another container and dissolve the washing powder in it.
3. At this time, take the corduroy out of the water, wring it dry, and then soak it in warm water for about 10 minutes.
4. Then rub it gently with your hands and rinse it with water several times. Then dry the corduroy in a ventilated place.
Yarn structure
According to the yarn structure used, it can be divided into full yarn corduroy, half-thread corduroy and full-thread corduroy.
Processing technology
According to different processing techniques, it can be divided into dyed corduroy, printed corduroy, yarn-dyed corduroy and jacquard corduroy (jacquard corduroy is partially raised to form various patterns).
Uses of corduroy fabric
Corduroy has round and plump velvet strips, wear-resistant velvet, thick texture, soft hand feel and good warmth retention. It is mainly used as autumn and winter outerwear, shoe and hat fabrics, and is also suitable for furniture decoration fabrics, curtains, sofa fabrics, handicrafts, toys, etc.
The difference between corduroy and pure cotton fabric
1. Different raw materials
The raw material of corduroy is mainly cotton, with polyester, acrylic, spandex and other fiber blends as spokes.
Pure cotton fabric, as the name suggests, is made of cotton.
2. Different appearance
A cotton fabric with corduroy cut and raised piles and longitudinal velvet strips formed on the surface. Because the velvet strips resemble rush wicks, they are called corduroy.
Pure cotton fabric has no velvet, and the surface of the fabric is smooth and flat.
3. Different characteristics
Corduroy fabric feels elastic and soft, with clear and round velvet strips, soft and even luster, thick and wear-resistant, but it is easy to tear, especially the tearing strength along the velvet strip direction is low.
Pure cotton fabric has the characteristics of moisture absorption, moisture retention, heat resistance, alkali resistance, and hygiene. Generally speaking, pure cotton fabrics have better moisture absorption and heat resistance, and are comfortable to wear.
4. Different uses
Corduroy is suitable for making autumn and winter outerwear, shoe and hat fabrics, curtains, curtains, sofa fabrics and other decorative items.
Pure cotton fabrics are mainly used for home decoration and apparel such as high-end clothing and bedding.
