It’s time for spring sowing! The 34th Regiment’s 130,000 acres of cotton paving work is in full swing

With the popularization of “smart” agricultural machinery and the application of a series of new agricultural technologies, the cotton yield of the 2nd Division and the 34th Regiment has repeatedly hit new highs, and the cotton industry continues to move towards high quality and efficiency.

The weather has warmed up recently, and accompanied by the rumble of the locomotive, the work of laying 34 groups of cotton films is being carried out in an intense and orderly manner. On March 15, in fields 8-10 of the 8th Company of the 34th Regiment, a cotton film spreading machine shuttled back and forth across the field to spread film under the precise positioning of the Beidou satellite navigation system. The entire process was mechanized. The drip irrigation belts were laid in one go, and the fields were a busy scene.

This year, the Eighth Company of the 34th Regiment planted 10,400 acres of cotton. Currently, 8 film spreading machines are working at the same time every day to ensure that the quality of the film spreading reaches the sowing level while grasping the progress. The technical standards include straight rows, uniformly spread film over successive stubbles, tight film pressing, corners into squares, and edges into lines.

Since the spring sowing work started this year, members of the “Two Committees” of the 12 agricultural companies of the 34th Regiment have gone deep into the fields to strictly control the quality of sowing operations, solve practical difficulties encountered by employees in a timely manner, and effectively serve as employees’ “Liaison officers”, “waiters” and “technicians” are fully committed to the spring sowing work, so that the employees can have “reassurance”.

Liang Yunjiang, commander of the Eighth Company, said: “During this period, we mainly go deep into the fields to guide employees to carry out spring cotton sowing work in an orderly manner. At the same time, we help employees reserve agricultural supplies and coordinate locomotives. As of now, the company has completed 7,700 acres of film, and it is expected that in The film laying work was fully completed on March 20.”

It is reported that cotton cultivation in the Thirty-fourth Group mainly uses winter plowing, winter irrigation, mulching and film laying technology and “dry sowing and wet out” technology. The soil does not need spring irrigation. When the moisture content is suitable, direct sowing is carried out. Water is supplied by drip irrigation under the film, and drip irrigation is accurate. High, not only saves a lot of water resources, but also improves the emergence rate of cotton, laying a solid foundation for increasing cotton income.

Wang Xuejun, an employee of the Eighth Company, said: “Now the film laying technology is very good, and the seedling emergence rate can reach 90%, which not only saves water bills but also increases cotton yield.”

This year, the 34th Regiment planted 130,000 acres of cotton. A total of 112 Beidou satellite navigation seeders were put into spring sowing work, which greatly improved the quality and efficiency of cotton sowing and accelerated the progress of spring sowing. So far, 102,000 acres of cotton have been covered with cotton film and will be sown. The cotton sowing work started on March 25 and is expected to be fully completed on April 10.
